'2004'

This year's boat pull began on Wednesday 26th May.  Starting at the Achiltibuie road junction with the A835 Ullapool to Ledmore road.  Then heading for Ullapool 11 miles away to catch the Ferry to Stornoway, Isle of Lewis.  Piped along the road by John Fox who had joined us for the day from Edinburgh.

Day 2...

The team arrived in Stornoway off the Ferry.  Made our base at the Claitair Hotel, South Lochs, Isle of Lewis.  Thursday morning we set off pulling the boat from Balallan heading South for Tarbert, 21 miles away over the Clisham (thats what you call a hill'), escorted by Coastguard safety vehicles.  Must have been the hottest day, Janice got sunstroke and was sent home.

Day 3...

Friday 28th May, Dull & Raining

Started pulling at Balallan junction heading North for Stornoway, 18 miles.  Escorted by the Coastguard, one in front, and one behind, up hills, down hills.  As we got closer to Stornoway the road got busier.  Two more Coastguard vehicles join.

The pace was fast outside Stornoway.  Traffic was starting to come to a stand still.  Arrived in Stornoway with Piper joining the convoy.  A Police vehicle then escorted us around the town through the streets and supermarket car parks, collection buckets were filling fast.

We finished in the town centre.  After a break we collected around the hotels and bars.  Generosity was overwhelming.

Saturday we returned to Ullapool by Ferry and collected from passengers and crew.
